About Us
Girdler House, established in 1885 originally named the Old Ladies Home Society, was founded on the premise of caring for women over 60-years of age. This establishment began when a group of young women were driven by compassion to provide shelter for moderately independent senior women.
Overlooking the ocean on Lothrop Street in Beverly, MA, the Girdler House is a wonderful retirement option for women who want comfort and support at a reasonable monthly fee. Each resident has a private bedroom and bathroom in an historic home set in one of Beverly’s most desirable residential neighborhoods. All meals are home-cooked and served in a lovely dining room. A dedicated staff meet the everyday needs while fostering a comfortable and dignified setting. The interests of each resident is taken into account when planning activities. Residents spend their days in the common areas and, in good weather, enjoy the front porch and courtyard overlooking the ocean.
This non-profit establishment is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors who oversee and collaborate with the staff to achieve this noble, long-standing mission.
